King Willem I of the Netherlands invited Johannes Buys, who was a knight of the order of the Netherlands lion, and the Buys sons often to the palace in Amsterdam.
First lieutenant Pierre Emille Buys was an officer in the Ducth East Indies colonial army. There are no pictures of Pierre Emille Buys but this picture shows how he would have looked like in the uniform of the day. Military service 1848-1859.
